Reginald George Jeffrey was born on 5th September 1921 in Withersfield (Risbridge Q2-1921) son of Arthur and Eliza JEFFREY (née SEXTON). His mother [3-2-1886] married James NOTLEY [21-12-1864] in 1925 (Risbridge Q4-1925 4A:2021). The name can be Jeffrey or Jeffery.

According to his PoW card, his mother and stepfather were living at 33 Burton Green, Withersfield, where they were in 1939 with his 22 years old sister Vera JEFFREY, single [13-10-1916], later PORTEUS)


He was captured at the surrender of Singapore to the Japanese on 15th February 1942 and put to work on the Burma -Siam railway. Originally buried in Takaneen, he was re-interred in Kanchanaburi in February 1946
