Jack Percy Holden was born in Wickhambrook 25th March 1920 (Risbridge Q2-1920 4A:1915), son of Ernest Edward and Jessie HOLDEN (née MURKIN).

In the 1939 register the family were at Thorns Corner, Wickhambrook, father Ernest E [23-3-1887] master blacksmith; mother Jessie [27-4-1888] and Jack P, a clerk in milk distributive trade.
For some reason the Roll of Honour in the church has him as John Holden.


Jack was captured at the surrender of Singapore to the Japanese on 15th February 1942. His Japanese PoW card has not been found.
