Peter Frederick Andrews was born in Cavendish (Sudbury Q1-1920 4A:2196), son of John Charles and Alice Marie ANDREWS (née SMITH).


He was the nephew of Ethel Andrews of Cavendish. In 1939 Ethel and her husband Harry were in Peacocks Road, Cavendish with Peter's widower father


This was about the time that the Allies halted the advance of Rommel along a line due south from the coast west of El Elamein, when Montgomery was able to start stockpiling supplies and men ready for the 2nd battle of El Alamein which eventually started the rout of the Afrika Korps

Originally buried in a scattered cemetery in a depression near El Mreir, (due south of El Alamein), he was moved to El Alamein on 30th July 1943
