Aged 28
Henry Mynott was born in Castle Camps (Linton Q3-1913 3B:856), baptised in Castle Camps Congregational Church on 29th June 1913, son of Esau [30/11/1879] and
Minnie [Mary Ann] [3/2/1876] MYNOTT (née RAWLINSON).
In the 1911 census there were his sisters Nellie [3] born Withersfield and Lizzie [2] born Castle Camps and brother George [7 months]. His parents were at Bartlow Road in 1939 when his father was a navvy at the aerodrome. There is one closed record and a child Charles E Manley [21-7-1929], perhaps an evacuee. |
The 4th Suffolks were fighting between the MacRitchie reservoir and Mount Pleasant and Henry was killed the day before the surrender of Singapore to the Japanese. The battalion had been in Singapore for only 16 days. CWGC record him as dying between 5th and 15th February, initially buried on 28th June 1942 in Adam Park Cemetery and transferred to Kranji 26th June 1946. |
