He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds. He died at No.32 Casualty Clearing Station. Dying of his wounds it is not possible to be sure when or where he was wounded.
The battalion had been alternating between Brigade Reserve at Quesnoy and manning trenches at Givenchy
