"HELIONS BUMPSTEAD MEMORIALS"

To the eternal memory of the men of HELIONS BUMPSTEAD who died in the service of their country
Sixteen in the Great War of 1914-1919

The war memorial is actually the Recreation Ground, behind the Village Hall, where there is a plaque on a brick structure. The actual names though are on a wall mounted stone plaque inside St.Andrew's Church. The church plaque resembles a church window as the frame to a smooth tablet on which is inscribed the dedication and the names of the sixteen fallen.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them.
