William Hurrell was born Barnardiston in 1885 (Risbridge Q2-1885 4A:589) baptised in Kedington St Peter & St Paul on 14th June 1885, son of David and
Ellen HURRELL(née COOTE).
1891 census...Aged 5, he was at East Green Cottages, Great Bradley with his father David HURRELL [27] farm labourer born Barnardiston and his mother Ellen [26] born Kedington. 1901 census...Aged 15, a farm labourer, he was at Dash End, Kedington with his parents and sister Elizabeth [6]. All are recorded as born in Kedington. 1911 census...Aged 25, a farm labourer working for Mr Badcock, he was at 7 Spring Cottages, Sturmer Road, Haverhill with his parents and sister Lizzie (now recorded as born in Great Bradley). One sibling had died.
The pension card has his mother at 3 Burton End, Haverhill.

He enlisted in Haverhill. He died in No.13 General Hospital in Boulgne.
With no service record available there is no way of saying when or where he was wounded. At the end of September 1916 the 8th Suffolk were involved in heavy fighting to take Thiepval and the Schwaben Redoubt
