Patrick Walter Richard Hutchinson was born on 23rd November 1913 in St George, Hanover Square, London [1A:753], the son of John Walter and Sybil Katharine HUTCHINSON (née Henderson)

He appears on the Army roll of honour both as Hutchinson and Hely-Hutchinson and resident in London. Probate in 1944 has his address as Chippenham Lodge. In 1939 the Hely-Hutchinsons were at The Lodge, Chippenham - father [18-12-1886] East India Merchant/Chairman Hop Marketing Board; mother [14-1-1882] WVS member and Cambs Womens Land Army.

London Gazette, 27th June 1939 has him appointed to the Supplementary Reserve of Officers of the Welsh Guards from Cadet of the Eton College O.T.C.



The 8th Medium Regiment, Royal Artillery had 24 men killed on 17th March 1944, possibly the battle for Pagoda Hill, all are buried in Imphal.
