"BARNHAM WAR MEMORIAL"

To the eternal memory of the men of BARNHAM who died in the service of their country
Nineteen in the Great War of 1914-1919 and three in 1939-1945



Barnham has the traditional war memorial, on the small grass island near the school. On a four feet square base is a square stone column, decorated at the top with granite embellishments. Overall height just over six feet The dedication is on the East face with names from the Great War on North and South faces. The West face has the names from 1939-1945. The names of the fallen are in almost alphabetical order of surname, with up to two given names. The panels are polished granite with inscribed lettering black painted.
The mason was Mr R.H.Hall, on a site costing £150, unveiled on 28th August 1919. The report appeared in the Norwich and Norfolk Post of 5th September 1919 [©IWM (WMR-5086)]
